This is a new thing I kind of pickup recently after see some cool guys doing cool stunts at my void deck.
What is waveboarding exactly? (click to see more information from wikipedia)
It is otherwise known as street surfing.
The board is called a casterboard.
Where to get one?
I got mine at local supermarket "NTUC Megastore" at AMK hub going at S$59.90. You can get one too at "Giant Supermarket" from as low as S$39.90. For a starter, I wanted to get a more economical choice to have a feel and try if I can manage to balance. Planning to get a speedier, better and funkier one once I master the basic of the surf... :)
Where to start practising?
Looking at the tips given by fellow surfer online. It is recommended to start where there is a gradual slope. It will be easier to move forward and get an ongoing momentum. But for me, I find the open void deck below my HDB flat with lots of pillar support quite suitable. That helps me better as I can aim to glide from pillar to pillar.
Who is it suitable for?
I was kind of disappointed when the Aleoca promoter at Giant Supermarket at Parkway told me that I am too old and too big size to play this waveboard. He told me its more designed for kids. But after surfing online for more information as I was very interested in this street surfing. I found that there are people that are more big size than me playing. I decided to just do it. Give it a shot. Thus, I recommend this for all with an adventurous spirit.
